Always love those British pies when I was studying in England. Can't find them here in Portugal whatsoever but thanks to BCS, I now can eat as many pies as I want. I miss the UK!
Frat Bentos pies cook easily, they taste good, they have a long shelf life and have never ever let us down.If you feel the need of a good, filing supper and a memory of how not all things have changed for the worst you can relax in the knowledge that this is a real 'feel good' product.
Yummy. These pies from Fray Bentos are good enough to form the basis of a Sunday lunch. Surround the pie with pots and veg, including brussel sprouts and you have a splendid meal. I can polish off one of these pies in one go - they are so delicious and generously filled.
This is now a favorite, as we no longer live in the UK, we thought it would be better to try tinned products instead of fresh, we were expecting a little less quality, but very surprised and was loved by the whole family. 3 big pies fed a family of 6, perfect quality, a good amount of chicken and mushroom, plenty of creamy sauce, and so simple to cook.
To those of us who up to recently were outside the area to which BCS delivered chilled foods, Fray Bentos were the only source for a decent pie.
They make some great pies and the chicken and mushroom is, I think, one of the best.
Plenty of chicken chunks and pieces of mushroom in a tasty creamy sauce and the puff pastry topping is light and flaky.
A great pie.
This is another favourite of mine, and not just because it is so quick and easy to make. I love the delicious flavour of the creamy sauce and the generous pieces of tasty chicken. The pastry puffs up nicely and it smells divine when it comes out of the oven. I usually have Fray Bentos pies with mashed potatoes and peas, but really it goes with just about anything!
Fray Bentos pies are great. They have awesome flavours and ensure that only fantastic cuts of meat are used. I also love the great taste of the pastry that rises nicely when cooked.
They are a long life pie that are great to have in the cupboards for those late nights or times when no other food will do.
Many years ago when I lived in the UK, Fray Bentos pies were a staple diet for me, especially at times when other pies were not available; usually late at night when feeling peckish. They are simple to make, tasty, and smell wonderful when they come out of the oven.
They are also great to keep in stock as they have a long shelf life, and in the past I have even cooked them on the BBQ during power outages.
Fray bentos pies are a saviour for unplanned diners. Just cook in the oven for 25 mins, and throw together some chips, mash or white rice and some peas and you have a hearty meal. The sauce is thick enough so you will not need gravy. The pastry is crispy at the top and the filling is made of mushrooms, thick pieces of chicken and a wonderful sauce.
Well, I dont know about you but I have a teenager who is not into eating red meat, and absolutely adores these chicken pies - all of them.
They are delicious, lovely puff pastry, don't take long to cook. They are not too big and not too small - just right for two people. Fabulous.
