Got this as a test to see if could use it as a quick cheat when I fancied cheesecake and none in the house or the stuff to make one. Well it failed the test. The base was fine if a bit too crumbly. The filling though has no right to call itself cheesecake. It tastes vile I know taste is subjective but this tasted like old fashioned powdered blancmange without any flavourings would. If you want a dessert to serve to people you dislike give them this. If you want a nice treat steer well clear.
This cheesecake rates only 4 stars because the filling tastes a little synthetic. However, here in rural Burgundy we cannot get the makings of cheesecake (no digestive biscuits, for example, and no Philadelphia, which are called for in my recipe. Never mind - a great standby in an emergency.
I didn't like the taste of Greens Original Cheesecake mix, I found the filling quite bland, a little like milk jelly. The consistency was perfect, it set well and was firm and melt in the mouth. The base crumbly and just thick enough. I think it needs a good fruity topping, to improve the flavour. In fact, I'm going to give it another go, this time I'm going to make a forest fruit topping and I'm sure it will be 100% better flavourwise. (I hope)
A quick and easy way to make a delicious cheesecake.
In the box you'll find two packets. The white packet has the cheesecake filling and the clear packet contains the biscuit base. You need to add your own milk and butter.
It's very simple and quick to make and it sets in the fridge in about 50 to 60 minutes.
The consistency is firm but soft to bite into. It melts in your mouth and it tastes just like an authentic home made cheesecake.
I would definitely recommend it.
