Very tasty! Goes great with a cup of tea or even on its own. There's the creaminess of the icing, the sweet tartness of the raspberry plum filling, and the slight savoriness of the almond crust. It's a very soft tart for the most part with just a hint of crunchiness. Just sweet enough to satisfy your dessert cravings. Highly recommend!
Agree with Linda and Tina above. Mr Kiplings Bakewell tart is scrumptious... I pride myself on having tried many manufacturers and without doubt, Mr Kiplings is the best. Always loved Bakewell Tart since childhood, I love the slightly firmer pastry base of the large tart over the individual tarts and the deep filling of almond and jam is just heaven. Local shop to us do not sell the large tart so to be able to order them and cut just a little bit bigger slice than perhaps you should is a real luxury. Well done British Corner Shop a true British classic.
Mr Kipling Bakewell Tart is beautifully layered with a light, sweet pastry crust, moist almond sponge cake, a thick layer of plum and raspberry jam and creamy icing which is also has a hint of almond flavor. This is a real hit at dinner parties when it is dessert time. As the tart is sliced, you hear the crisp icing break and this is when the excitement begins. This scrumptious dessert can comfortably feed six people.
Delicious and a real 'English' flavour, as I've never found anything similar here. Although I also love the individual bakewell slices, this is usually a more cost effective way to get my bakewell tart fix! It's well proportioned and a lovely sweet treat. The pastry can be a bit crumbly and may not arrive in perfect condition, though I don't mind shaking the crumbs out of the box and eating them anyway.
I'm not sure if some sort of mistake occurred during packing (in the Mr Kipling factory of course, I am in no way referring to British Corner Shop!), because the Mr Kipling Bakewell Tart that I opened, was not sealed. The tart was sitting on a foil tin, but was lose in the box, without the sealed, plastic covering that the boxed cherry Bakewells have. I was quite shocked by this. In fact the tart was not as good as the individual Bakewells at all. I can only judge by my own experience so if this was I one off mistake, fair enough. If, however, that is the standard packaging procedure of this tart, I'll never buy it again.
A classic British dessert; crisp sweet crust pastry, a generous layer of delicious plum and raspberry jam, a moist almond flavoured frangipane and a creamy, white fondant topping. The combination of these flavours create one of Mr. Kipling's masterpieces. Perfect as a teatime treat or an after dinner dessert. Something that always amazes me is that although it has quite a long shelf life, Mr. Kipling's Bakewell Tart always tastes as though it has been made that day. This tart can be cut into four or six slices, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you can't have more than one portion. ;-)
