Since I was a kid I have loved cockles. Pickled cockles are one of the best snacks I have ever had. When I moved to New Zealand I was sad to see you could not buy them anywhere! So when I found this online shop the first thing I did was order these as well as a couple of other favourites and when I ate them after 10 years, they were the most glorious of tastes on the planet! Thanks British Corner Shop for being so awesome!

In the 36 years I've lived in Clogland, I've never been able to purchase cockles and had actually forgotten that they might be available in jars like gherkins and pickled onions.

But hey presto - here they are being sold by BCS !

So I can dreg up the memories of when my dear old dad would take me up to Portobello Road a couple of times each year and buy me a half pint of cockles to eat with my fingers whilst walking along the street (mum was never with us to complain about our lack of eating manners!!)

I'll choose my moment to unscrew the lid, drain them off and then add malt vinegar and enjoy the taste of years gone by.

Thanks BCS for supplying them.

Parsons Cockles are a discovery I was pleased to make. Here in Norway cockles are impossible to get hold of and the briny flavour of these small mollusks is a treat. There has not been too much vinegar in the preparation so the taste comes through very well. The texture is also pleasant.

After living by the seaside in the UK for nearly 20 years, I was really looking forward to these. Sadly, I was very disappointed. The cockles themselves are very small and not particularly tasty. But the main drawback, for me, was the vinegar mixture. Even after drawing off the liquid, the unpleasant "chemical" taste lingered on the cockles, rendering them inedible.

Parsons Cockles are a taste of the old style seaside. The smell when you open the jar transports you back to long sunny days and sandy beaches. I would suggest you treat yourselves to a jar per person, or as your own treat. Add salt, pepper or more vinegar to suit your own taste, a slice of buttered bread and your supper is ready! Enjoy.

I loved these! I haven't had cockles for years because I live in Holland and just can't get them here. OK these ones in a jar are not the ones you can buy fresh at the beach, but I really enjoyed them.

I settled down with a jar of these and a toothpick to get them out of the jar but that wasn't very successful so I gave up and found myself a small fork.

The cockles were really tasty and unlike some other reviewers I actually liked the vinegar flavor. You don't drink the vinegar mixture, you just enjoy the flavor of it on the cockles. I liked these anyway and would buy them again.

As a big fan of Cockles I was pleased to discover this brand available on British Corner Shop. Nothing can beat the fresh taste of Cockles (that was a thriving business in the UK some thirty years ago) at the seaside.

Just add some salt on these to neutralize the vinegar and away you go.

A great disappointment, especially if you are used to eating them at the seaside. Cockles are very small and tasteless, and for me the vinegar is far to sweet and lacks the 'kick' my palate usually receives when eating them.

The only way I was able eat them was to drain off the liquid, pepper and top up with apple vinegar.
