Product reviews
An excellent and authentic tasting paste. I love a curry, and cooking using these pastes tastes so much better than any takeaway. We always add green and red peppers, some fresh red chilli and spinach. This particular paste goes really well with fresh prawns. A winter warmer with chicken or beef, or a spicy fish dish for the warm summer evenings. As always with Pataks, and excellent quality product.Highly recommended
Delicious. I've just finished the first jar I have had and am ordering again. Spoonfuls of lovely, lovely spices.
For some very odd reason, here on Crete it's possible to buy only one Pataks chutney pickle paste generally, even in the local shop mango chutney.Just got lalfrezi paste for the first time, and will again. Happy though I am with Greek food, it'd be mad not to have a few all right, a lot of Pataks stuff at hand for an occasional change.
I really like Patak's pastes and this is a nice one. I like to throw some in the crockpot with a can of coconut milk, a tin of tomatoes in juice, chicken or beef, and veggies. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, and your reward is an amazing curry! This is a great buy.
I like to cook at home some different food but not to stay in the kitchen for hours.
To cook the curry using this paste is so easy and great. I can change the basic ingredients as I like and the jar last well in the fridge. Just some naan bread for a perfect meal.
I really like the simplicity of using these pastes. You can easily fill out your curry with what ever ingredients you fancy enabling the ability to chop and change the overall taste.
Adding lamb instead of chicken for example. It is best served in my opinion with tender chicken and coriander.
Jamie Oliver recommended this on TV as the basis of his Vegetable Jalfrezi for 8 which he stresses the paste not the sauce. When we have wanted a vegetable and chickpea curry this works a treat and you can freeze it although I personally would not add the fresh coriander leaves until I was going to defrost and cook it.
For this recipe alone which is online this paste is perfect.
