Fair Trade is a movement that supports producers in developing countries, the aim being to improve their working and trading conditions and give them the opportunity to develop sustainable and financially viable businesses.
The main focus is on exports from developing countries, produce such as coffee, honey, bananas, cotton, sugar, tea and chocolate. In many parts of the developing world workers and farmers work extremely hard in poor conditions for very little reward.
Any product that sports the Fair Trade logo will be subject to international Fair Trade standards, which are agreed by members of the Fair Trade organisation, including the workers, farmers and traders themselves.
