It seems like people either love Fray Bentos pies, or dislikes them. I am one of those who really likes them. Just like the other pies, the top pastry is puffy and flaky, and the gravy is very good. The only downside with this pie is the pieces of chicken are very small. I was hoping for bigger chunks of meat. Otherwise, these are great to have in your cupboard for quick and hearty meals or side dishes.

Ideally I wanted to buy the mince beef and onion version but due to US laws these cant be shipped, however, I have tried these pies in the past and these were a great alternative. Certain things in a can never sound like it should taste any good and even upon opening the can it isn't the prettiest thing to see, however, once its cooked, the pastry risen and you cut into it and taste it is simply a very tasty meal idea. Really looking forward to getting more of these.

Love a Fray bentos pie and this being the first time we have tried the Fray Bentos just chicken pie we were unsure how it would turn out!! Needn't have worried a lovely flaky brown puff pastry on top with the best bit of the pie being the soft bit below the puff pastry sitting on top of the very tasty chunky chicken and gravy filling ideal meal with vegetables and spuds!! On the downside if the tin can have a ring pull life would be easier

The very best I can say about this product is that it is edible, as in your body will be able to use it for sustenance. Probably. The pie was peculiarly, grimly tasteless. Or nearly so. It consisted of fibers and specks of sad chicken floating in a watery gravy, under an equally tasteless layer of unnamed puff pastry. At least the top crisped up nicely in the oven. After trying his first forkfuls my husband asked me if I had accidentally purchased fancy dog food. He was trying to be funny, but there was, indeed, a hint of genuine concern in his voice. Had I, indeed, missed a label on the tin? Perhaps one promising a shiny coat of fur? The impossibly sturdy tin added to the misery: it took me a good ten minutes to open. That was probably my fault, though: the tin DID recommend a heavy duty can opener, but I decided to have a go at it using a flimsy one. The maddeningly slow millimeter by millimeter opening process left my hands feeling arthritic, but at least there was the promise of a delicious pie hanging in the air, right? Right.

This tin made a lovely lunch for my husband and I on a cold Tuesday afternoon with a side of greens and a hunk of bread, we enjoyed a fast meal that satisfied us both. Thanks for this great product. This is going to be a staple in my cupboard in winter, a must have for those I don't want to cook days.

Unlike other people, I found the taste of chicken completely obscured by the taste of the gravy which seemed to taste of beef. A shame because otherwise I like Fray Bentos pies. Also, there was not very much chicken in the pie.

Great pie, reminds me of the Beef and Mushroom Fray Bentos pies that we loved when we were kids. Didn't know there was a chicken variety available. The pastry is the best! Canned pies are very handy to have available at short notice, since they don't need to be defrosted before use.

I ordered a couple of these as an experiment and was very pleasently surprised at how easy they were to cook and even more so at how good they are. I will definitely order a wider variety of them on my next order.

Fray Bentos make terrific pies. They have the most wonderful flaky pastry that melts in your mouth. This chicken pie is just as lovely as the steak variety, the chicken is moist and tender and the gravy is very flavourful. Served with potatoes and vegetables this is a very convenient dinner for two people.
Ian from Germany
Some chicken pies come with a white sauce filling and some with a gravy. Gravy and chicken is a winning combination and Fray Bentos know it.
This awesome pie of theirs has great flaky pastry that surrounds succulent and tender pieces of chicken drenched in a delicious gravy.
I really like this pie.
Roger from Germany
An excellent pie from Fray Bentos this Just Chicken one is full of chunks off chicken in a thick gravy topped off with there Puff Pastry,Scrummy.
I prefer mine served with mashed potatoes and Brussels.
Great when cooked in a Halogen oven the pastry puffs up well. Great meal on a cold Winters Night.

I like these Fray Bentos pies as does my son. Until looking through this site I've NEVER ever seen the chicken curry flavour one so that will be in my order soon.
These pies come in a tin with a long use by date on them. You open the top of the tin with a normal can opener and through the lid away. Place the pie into the oven on a baking tray in case of overflowing. The top of the pie is puff pastry and even though does not look very appealing when raw once cooked it's top raises up and goes a golden brown colour (black if you burn it)
Goes well with potatoes or chips and is very tasty.

My daughter's personal favourite, although she likes all the chicken pies, this is the best for her.
Lovely chunks of chicken in a thick sauce. Puff pastry topping. It doesnt take long to cook and is just magic for those evenings when you run out of time too, and you can pop one of these in the oven!
