After years of living away from home, I found this site. the first thing I found was my Fray Bentos beef and onion pie. what can I say, I bought it first thing and the Bisto to go with it, paid my money then waited. I was not disappointed it was PERFECT in every way crispy on top the filling was wonderful, so I eat another.. the product is well recommended not to be missed just add mash and Bisto for the perfect dinner.

Fray Bentos Mince Beef Onion Pie is perfect for a labor 'less' meal... the filling is tasty and the pastry puffs up on top very nicely... it's great served with mash and peas etc but I also like to serve it with MINI potatoes that I throw in the crock pot and cover with a little olive oil and fresh garlic and rosemary cook on high for about 3 hrs btw I will definitely buy this product again and highly recommend trying it.. remember, its not home made.. it is a processed food, but all things considered it tastes really quite good.

Out of all the Fray Bentos pies available, this would probably be my last choice. The pie is still tasty and it has that wonderful puff pastry that rises so well but the filling just isn't up to the taste of the steak and kidney or chicken and mushroom variety. I guess everyone has their personal preferences.

When I was in England, pies became a indispensable part of my life and now in Portugal I'm grateful to BCS for making it happen again. I just can't resist the golden crust and the crispy texture that never change. I love British pies. )

When my children were little I would try to replicate this pie as it had always been a favourite of mine. It was quite labour intensive and my pastry did not rise any near as much as it does on this pie.
As with all Fray Bentos pies you have not only a satisfying meal but an easy one too. Served with potatoes and peas a meal in minutes and almost no dishes. This pie serves me twice so it is also an economic choice.

Easy to cook and great for two people. Very delicious meat with gravy sauce, a dish that warms the heart. Very good with mashed potatoes.

Definitely not something I would buy again.
The top layers of the puff pastry do rise well to provide a very flakey crisp pastry, however at least half of the underneath layers do not and stay slimey. Slimey pastry combined with very little filling without much taste leaves you feeling that you are eating, as my non British husband described it; 'baby food'.
On the plus side, this product is easy to store and does not require refrigeration, has a long date (over a year on the one we just ate), is easy to cook and leaves you with very few dirty dishes.
Overall I would describe the Frey Bentos mince beef and onion pie as an edible but not wonderful convenience food.

As with most pies in the Fray Bentos range this Mince beef and Onion pie is simply fantastic.
It can be stored in the cupboard until you have the need and once it is called upon to deliver its great taste it never fails.
The onion and mince combine in the gravy so well that it probably makes this my favourite in the range.

My personal favourite of all the Fray Bentos Pies is the Minced Beef and Onion.A great combination of tasty Mince Onion and diced Carrots.
So easy to prepare on a cold winters night,just open the lid pop in a pre heated oven for 30 mins and serve.
Perfect with mashed potatoes.

Like the rest of the range, delicious. As another customer had stated on here, very easy to open which is great. They cook well, light flakey top and thick gravy sauce and the meat tastes nice!
Very enjoyable. Easy to eat, super for two people. Easy size to store so being in France, I do tend to buy quite a few on each order!
