Fray Bentos steak and gravy pie in my eyes is an amazing meal traditionally i enjoy the soft part of the pastry just below the crispy bit and sitting on the meat itself. my wife and i share the pie between us wih the adittion of mashed potato and green beans with an additional gravy boat as we enjoy our gravy with this meal!! nice a flavoursome with good meat!! an ideal meal

My husband and I haven't had these pies since we were children, so as we were looking for a few easy meals we added it on. My son can be a fussy eater but he ate this, he loved the pastry with the gravy and ate the mash and carrots that I did with it. Definitely can't complain about such an easy meal that flavour was great.

I was very disappointed with Fray Bentos Steak and Gravy Pie. I have always liked Fray Bentos pies but this was the first time I had tried this particular one. The pastry is still great tastes crispy, fluffy and delicious. The contents of the pie were not good. The gravy was very gloopy and didn't have a lot of taste. It wasn't seasoned well. As for the pieces of steak I really only had about two small pieces that seemed to blend in with the gravy. Nothing like the picture on the tin that shows big chunks of steak! Very disappointing I don't think I will purchase this again.

I ordered 3 of the Deep filled steak and Ale pies as I have always thought that Fray Bentos was a good quality product, I put it in the oven and saw it rise to a nice flaky crust pastry. When it had finished cooking it looked wonderful but when I cut it open what a disappointment there was about 3 table spoon of gravy mush and not a single cube of solid meat to be seen, I have got 2 more to use so I will see how they turn out.

Fray Bentos makes the tastiest pies ever. They are so easy to make, just pop them in the oven for half and hour and you have a homemade quality pie ready for dinner! Just add peas and carrots and it is a balanced meal. I find the beef quality quite high in those pies, and it also does not cost of lot.

If you want a really good Steak Pie without all of the fuss of actually making it from scratch, or using frozen pastry etc, this is the one for you. I had forgotten how great this pie was until I received my original order and it did not disappoint. Slightly tricky getting it open with the newer can openers as the lid isn't flush with the outside of the tin - but - worth the extra elbow grease to get it open. And you can keep it in your Fridge or Pantry for quite a long while so you'll always have one on hand!

As an Aussie living in Finland for the past six years, one of the things I have really missed is a well made meat pie. When I saw this at your store online, I was a little sceptical as I had never eaten a meat pie from a can before, however, last night my husband and I had this very meat pie for dinner. Preparation was so simple. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees, cook the pie for 25-30 minutes and dinner is served! No mess, no fuss.

When it came out of the oven, the smell alone had me drooling already, but after one bite, I felt like I was back in Australia, digging into the best food on the planet. The pie was rich with steak and gravy, as promised on the packaging, and the pastry was perfect. I lopped off the pastry lid, flipped it over and ate the meat of the pie as the lid soaked up the gravy. When the gravy and steak were finished, I devoured the pastry lid. It truly was the most delicious pie I have ever had the pleasure of tasting, and we will be ordering them in bulk with our next order. Thank you so much!

This pie is lovely, lots of meat, light flakey crust, a side of chips and extra gravy and you are transported back to Britain. This used to be one of my favourites as a child and still is. I would not hesitate in recommending this culinary delight to anyone who enjoys a truly British dinner.

Could there be a nicer pre-packaged pie around than this?

Fray Bentos have made a perfect pie in my opinion.

It is easy to make.The pastry is delicious. The contents are soaked in a rich gravy sauce that is not too tangy and it is a decent size.

An excellent pie! If you have never tried a pie this is the one to buy.

Fray Bentos Just Steak Pie has mouthwatering chunks of tender Steak in a rich gravy topped off with great Puff pastry.

I cook mine in my Halogen oven and it Comes out great.

I do think though its about time Fray Bentos came up with a pull ring lid.

Even so its a great pie

Great pie, but prefer the other flavours. As is typical a bit hard to open. I used a standard grip and turn opener and had a few goes at it before the lid came off, but not difficult rather more annoying. The pie cooked up great in the oven, nice and crusty outside but a bit soggy on the lower layers of pastry. I probably would not order this flavour again as I prefer the others like the chicken curry much more.

I did get that pie because it has lots of steak in a lovely sauce.Meat pieces are large and it does taste real good.Best thing for you- don't have to do anything apart from opening and put it in the oven.Well done for having it available.Very good brand Fray Bentos.

This pie is such a home comfort for me, especially in the depths of winter! Crisp, flaky pastry, succulent chunks of meat and a delicious gravy.

It's so easy just to chuck in the oven and it's great as a store cupboard staple because it keeps for ages.

I don't care how unhealthy it is - it's my ideal comfort food.

Like Christopher, I love this pie. My daughter loves the chicken range but this for me is also super tasty with roast potatoes done in butter and garlic with green beens. Those cold wintery nights call for this to fill you with warmth and pleasure!

I prefer the flakey pastry in this pie compared to others I have had in the past with shortcrust pastries. I find flakey pastry lighter to enjoy and it allows space for the juicy meat.

Fray Bentos Just Steak Pie tastes fantastic.

I think the best way to describe this pie is to break it down and describe all of it so:

- the tin is easy to open and very durable (in case you drop it)

- the crust is lovely and flaky and tastes exactly like pie crust should; rich in flavour, not cloying and yum

- the gravy is perfect, not too thick, not too thin and spiced just right and the steak is so tender and falls apart in your mouth.

This is a must buy, but sadly gets a 4 star review because of how unhealthy it is!
