Heinz beef ravioli is a good product. The sauce is rich, tomatoey and there is plenty of it. So much that there is always some left over in the dish when you have eaten all the ravioli. The pasta is a good size and filled to the brim with a tasty beef filling. If you are eating the ravioli as a main meal without salad or bread then this 400 gm tin is enough for two reasonably sized portions. I suggest adding a sprinkling of parmesan cheese on top of the ravioli. This will give the meal an extra tangy kick to it.
perfect product...perfectly packaged...total satisfaction.
There is, for me, a tremendous disparity in the quality of the various pasta / tomato products. The spaghetti (hoops) is OK but the macaroni is horrible.
Heinz ravioli in tomato sauce is average. A good quantity of fairly bland ravioli swimming in an abundance of very tasty tomato sauce.
A reasonable stand-by for the larder.
I really like Ravioli and have tried many different brands in my time. One decent option is this Heinz variety.
It is colourful, meaty and in a delicious, trademark tomato sauce from Heinz.
It is best enjoyed when heated slowly for a long time and then it will be nice and tender.
I strongly disagree with the other review on this site. I am usually no great fan of tinned products. Many of them simply lack the taste of real food and are probably not so healthy either. Heinz Ravioli in Tomato Sauce really makes the difference.
It tastes like ravioli should taste like, and although I would be lying if I said it tastes like home made food, I still do not think it tastes like tinned food either. This one is really worth trying.
I used to love these as a child in the UK even though my Italian family would look at me in disgust! Heinz Ravioli in Tomato Sauce were not bad at all in those days. The ravioli pasta was quite solid and didn't mush in the tin and the filling had a lovely beefy taste to it. Well, I tasted them again the other day and I was a little disappointed to find that they, like most things, have changed a little. Most of the ravioli were in pieces, but this might have been a one off occurrence on the production line. The filling was a little too 'gritty' for my liking. I've got a feeling that since they've started the 'lower in fat, reduced sugar' larks, flavours have gone downhill. Anyway, on the whole it wasn't that bad as I livened them up with a lot of grated Parmesan cheese. One tin is enough for two portions if you're serving on toast. Whatever is left can be stored in a covered container in the fridge for two days.
