There a a few different flavours to choose from with Oxo stock cubes and whilst I have used probably all of them Oxo vegetable stock cubes are the ones I use time and time again!! All individually wrapped in foil keeping them fresh!! they soon break down when hot water added and gives a great base to casserole or stew !!! just giving a helping hand

It is very difficult to find good stock cubes in Poland, so it is great to be able to buy Oxo Vegetable Stock Cubes from British Corner Shop. These stock cubes are firm to touch and crumble very easily when adding to a soup or stew. You can taste the salt and something slightly sweet which must be celery. I don't find the taste too salty or overpowering. If you crumble a cube into a mug and add boiling water, this makes a warm, comforting drink in winter. I also add half a stock cube to boiling water when making my own couscous. The Oxo just gives the couscous a lift.

Oxo cubes come in neat little packages and are easy to crumble up between your fingers, this makes them superior to the slabs of stock available in Norway and Sweden, which require much stirring to disintegrate. Lovely, rich flavour, and just to top it off the handy cardboard packaging has a lovely retro design.

Vegetable Oxo cubes are my favourite. I find other brands too salty and ruin food. I find that sprinkling one or two in the pot when making homemade pasta sauce really enhances it. I also make homemade tomato soup and use these in there too which adds a nice flavour. Homemade onion gravy is another one that these cubes make taste lovely.

It is incredible how many things you can do with vegetable stock cubs. It is a very good basis for a broth or a sauce ,or added to your cooking pasta/ rice, to give it some nice flavouring. Maggi makes a decent vegetable stock but, as always, Oxo is the best brand out there.
