These gold bars are basically on the same style as the club brand but that does not mean they are less delicious. A caramel flavoured bar with biscuit is just as rich and tasty as it's other versions. I wish I had bought a few more packets as the grandkids loved these. I very much enjoyed them but I felt the coating was a tad too sweet. Still a great Mcvities candy bar.

Unfortunately, they have changed the shape which has taken away from the enjoyment of this iconic bar. No longer tastes the same too much biscuit and the texture of the new shape seems basic and cheap. Used to be a 4-5 star bar, now just 1-2 from my recent taste.

This product from brand McVities contains a total of 8 individually wrapped Gold bars, each of which is essentially a biscuit bar with a thick caramel flavoured coating. The bars have a pretty Gold logo embossed onto them, thereby adding to aesthetic appeal. Their scent is invigorating, enticing one to consume them. The biscuit bar has a flavour characteristic of McVities biscuits. The presence of Rice Crispies in the biscuit component is noticeably felt, which provide for a crunchy mouthfeel. The caramel flavoured coating is not overly sweet. It reminds one of sweet caramel and may be compared with similar products such as Nestle Caramac and Nestle Kit Kat Gold. However, its flavour is quite different from that of the aforementioned products. It seems to be a blend of sweet caramel and white chocolate and is truly good enough to be aptly named as Gold. The components of the product complement each other very well, resulting in a product which is moreish and quite dangerously addictive. The bars can be easily shared with family and friends. Overall, this product is definitely worth the purchase.

I really like these, the coating melts like white chocolate but tastes like caramel. There are little rice crisps with the biscuit centre, they are excellent in lunch boxes! However, they are very sweet so they can be a bit sickly if you're not especially hungry. It would've been a 5-star rating however the 1 star has been dropped for the sickliness. You can get bored of them if you have them too often though!

Reading the other reviews, it sounds like I'll have to try a caramac to see if it's similar enough that I might not have to order these multiple times a year...the gold bar was my absolute favorite treat to have in my lunchbox, my other choice being either a club fruit bar or a penguin bar I was spoiled, I know that now...but the gold bar was far and away my favorite. It tasted as good as I remember!

I was pretty excited to try this, then disappointed by the way it looked but then when I tasted it, the Gold Bar definitely redeemed itself. It tastes like something I've had before here in America but I can't quite put my finger on it. I would definitely recommend giving this one a try.

Sickly sweet, too sweet for me. This is a cross between a caramel flavoured chocolate and a puffed rice biscuit. The only thing I really like about McVities Gold Bar is the colour of the wrappers. Children seem to like them and as there are eight bars in this pack, it is quite good value for money.

The Gold bar is a tasty little crunchy biscuit with a little extra crispness from the puffed rice, coated in caramel flavoured "chocolate" like coating.

I have always been a massive fan of the Caramac bar and with the taste of the Gold bar coating being very similar, it is no surprise this is one of my favourites.

Another school lunchbox favourite guaranteed to give you an afternoon sugar rush, which is probably why they were so popular. The gold part is pretty similar to a Caramac bar and underneath you get some puffed rice and a crunchy biscuit centre. Not an everyday biscuit, unless you love Caramac, but still makes for a lovely, little treat.
