Product information
The Eccles Cake is a traditional English cake; it is named after the town of its origin. It is not known who conceived the Eccles Cake, but a chap by the name of James Birch was the first person to sell them commercially, way back in 1793.
Real Lancashire Eccles Cakes are round pastry cakes, jam packed with juicy currants, real butter and sugar. These sweet pastries are best served warm, perhaps with a dollop of butter and jam.

These were delicious! The fruit mixture in a butter pastry. Reminds me of Christmas and my grandmother's cookies.

There is nothing better than a flaky, buttery, delicious pastry that is loaded with juicy, plump raisins. Relax with one of these freshly baked treats for an afternoon snack. Warm it up for about twenty seconds in the microwave while enjoying the fruity aroma and serve with a nice hot cup of tea or coffee. An utterly heavenly experience!

WOW! I could stop there and have said enough! These are oh so good. They have a light flaky buttery crust with a current fruit center that is rich and flavorful. Yes, you can heat them but do so carefully and not at full power on the microwave. I Try half power for a few seconds and then a little longer if need be. Truly though they are fine at room temp and don't worry about the expiration date. I guarantee they won't be around long enough to get to the date stamped. I ordered two packages and the first was gone before the rest of the box was unpacked. I am trying hard to make the other pack last as I order twice a month but I fear they will be gone before tonight. Make sure you order enough!

My first Eccles cakes ever. They are delicious. The fruity filling reminded me of mince pies. I heated them a bit in the microwave, it should have been the oven but it was rather late in the evening, nevertheless, they were very tasty. I can't compare the taste with freshly baked Eccles since I had never eaten them before but they were flakey and lovely. A perfect fit with a cup of tea! I'm happy I ordered 2 packs so I don't run out of them too fast.

You might be wary of buying any kind of cake or pastry item that doesn't come fresh from a bakery, but Real Lancashire Eccles Cakes are very good indeed. And they keep long enough to arrive at far-flung parts still in great shape. A very tasty if indulgent! treat and just the thing with a nice cup of tea.

Every time I visit the UK I buy Eccles cakes in fact when I recently became ill during a trip and lost my appetite they were one of the few things I could eat. The slightly firm but flaky golden pastry stuffed with moist juicy raisins makes for an absolutely wonderful flavor and texture combination. I've tried carrying them back in my suitcase but they are usually damaged unlike the order from British Corner Shop which arrived well packaged and in perfect condition. They will be a regular purchase from now on.

Eccles cakes are one of my favourite sweet treats. We could buy here in the past but they have disappeared in recent years. So pleased to see that you stock them as I will of course be adding them to my order. The lovely flaky pastry and fruit filling is the best, all you need to add is a hot beverage.

Growing up in Manchester I had this cake all the time. Maybe not the best idea as it's full of sugar but it's so good. It has a soft buttery flakey pastry with loads of juicy raisins. This is perfect to have if you have a sweet tooth. And it makes a great snack.

Pastry and raisins, a classic combination! There is not much more to these cakes, and the pastry acts more as a vessel in which to deliver that pure raisin hit. These are not the best Eccles cakes I've ever tasted, with the pastry having a bit of a greasy texture. However, they are still utterly divine and one of the best puddings money can buy. A great product.

The best little taste of home. Treat yourself to one of these with a nice cuppa! Still exactly the same flaky pastry and absolutely crammed chock full of raisins. I fed some of these bad boys to my new Swedish friends and they all loved them too. Happy days!
Ian from Germany
These Real Lancashire Eccles Cakes are a lovely, buttery and flaky treat. They can be enjoyed at any time of the day depending on which way you prefer.
They tend to bit a little bit dry but not too dry that you have to wash them down with something wet. A simple snack and good value.

We are Lancastrians and real Lancashire Eccles cake are the best. Sent as a gift overseas the exclamations of delight as this product was opened was pure music to the ears. Lancastrians in USA eating the best cakes in the world bringing them happiness. A good best by date was on the cakes so one packet has gone in the cupboard and one eaten immediately. Well packed individually, intact and whole, not a squish or a flake or pastry out of place. Yummy. Yummy excellent the only true Eccles cake made in Lancashire. Great packaging and work by British Corner Shop.

A taste of home! They are really good, flaky pastry and filling of raisins mixed to perfection. Great with a cup of tea. They arrived in perfect condition and not a bit squashed considering the long journey, they really pack things well at British Corner Shop.
Bruna from Italy
Not the best Eccles cakes I've ever tasted but on the whole not bad at all. I admit I warmed them slightly because they seemed a little too dry. They were very fragrant and full of fruit, and yes the pastry is quite light. I would definitely buy them again.
Emily from UK - England
Stunning! A gorgeous, buttery pastry encasing plenty of raisins to create a traditional Eccles Cake. I absolutely adore them and they are completely more-ish. Perfect for anytime of the day but particularly for a snack. The pastry is lovely and light and a pleasure to eat. 5 stars isn't enough.
