Sorry Colmans but not for me on this occassion!! i am no great cook so all the help i can get is appreciated!! i have tried with most dishes but find this item quite tasteless i have also tried adding a knob of butter and some chopped herbs but on this occassion i find this product is not for us there are better alernatives on offer!!obviously homemade being the very best

I like this bread sauce it reminds me of the sauce my grandmother used to make. I have to admit I do ' doctor' it up a little with a dash of salt, some freshly ground pepper and a touch of nutmeg. It goes very well with roasted turkey or chicken. I also enjoy this sauce with a grilled salmon fillet. As the sauce is easy to prepare I use it fairly frequently.

Colmans bread sauce isn't awful but it is not great. The flavour isn't up to much and I find the texture pretty awful. It turns out like a liquid. It is very quick and easy to make (just add 300ml milk and cook on a low heat on the hob). I would recommend buying Schwartz instead.

Colmans bread sauce mix is quick and easy but it definitely needs some tweaking to give the taste more flavour. Lots of freshly ground black pepper and freshly ground nutmeg make a big difference. I sometimes use the mix in conjunction with Colmans Onion sauce mix which gives a tasty result.

Not bad in a pinch (though agreed, not nearly as good as homemade). Easily can through a few bread crumbs and bits of sage in to make it nearly similar to the real thing. Though I suppose it's just as easy to make from scratch! Good for the simple cook or a bachelor.

Homemade is much better and not difficult, but as an alternative on the whole Colmans Bread Sauce is not bad. It is very smooth and does have a slight taste of clove and onion and it isn't tasty enough, nothing stops you grating a bit of nutmeg or anything else you prefer into it. Makes a good quantity of sauce with the simple addition of milk.
