I always have a couple of cans of this in my cupboard! You can really elevate simple desserts to the next level using this I use it for cheesecakes and cakes as well as pies. The flavour balance is excellent, sweet but no overly so. Highly recommend this product for anyone who bakes!

This is an absolute must for the store cupboard for any home baker or if you just like making deserts. I know this is marketed as a pie filling but it has so many other uses. I think my first memory of this was when I was about 15, now over 50 and as far as I can tell it tastes just as great as it always has done, which is rare with products really as they are forever trying to make production costs cheaper and not always for the good of the flavour or quality. Like the previous reviewer I have also used this in Black Forest Gateaux, I do make and use my own Brandies cherries but these make a super alternative without the alcohol.The sauce in this is unforgettable, it's a deep rich glossy red with a smooth flavour and packed with juicy cherries, maybe there are slightly less than there used to be but still a very good amount for the intended use. The main thing after all is the flavour and quality which I think it excellent and as you would expect from Princess. It does make a great pie, the sauce sometimes bubbles through the pastry crust, which I love. The filling stays lovely and moist after baking and never disappoints. I also use it as a topping for a simple chilled cheesecake, it's one of my favourite desserts as it's a great balance between sweet and savoury. A perfect product and a touch of luxury, having an alternative filling or topping. Highly recommended, give it a try, I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised.

My children love my Black Forrest cake and I use these cherries whenever I make my cake. They are of high quality and taste. Years ago I could not find a recipe I liked for this classic cake and so had to adapt my own tried and tested chocolate cake, with this tin of cherries, whipped cream and a couple of Flake bars you have a very good facsimile.(You can buy the Flake bars here at BCS).
