Product information
Everybody is familiar with the great sweet taste of Lyles Golden Syrup. It works perfectly as both a spread and as an ingredient in a huge array of baking recipes and desserts.
Lyles Golden Syrup is easily recognised by its iconic metal tin, which has remained unchanged since its introduction in 1885. The imagery on the tin makes reference to the biblical story of Sampson and the Lion – ‘Out of the strong came forth sweetness.’
Golden syrup is a thick, orangey syrup, which is derived from a type of sugar syrup.
Most popular with customers in Italy, France, United States of America (USA), Spain, Germany, Greece, Korea Republic of, Denmark and Belgium, but you can buy Lyles Golden Syrup for delivery worldwide.

What a classic! When I first moved out of the UK, I never realised how barren my storecupboard would be without this underappreciated cooking essential. I followed an online recipe to make my own, and it just wasn't the same. It has to be Lyle's! This is a musthave product for bakers, though I personally also use it to sweeten some savoury dishes like casseroles. It's a great addition to homemade barbecue sauce, too! Best use, though? Drizzled over vanilla ice cream. Delicious!

Lyles golden syrup is a fantastic blast from the past with its unique flavour it is a wonderful addition to home baking and I doubt anybody can resist sticking the tip of their finger in the tin to get a small pleasurable taste it is also a wonderful sweetener for breakfast cereal but be careful remember that little goes a very long way with this wonderful product
Leon from Poland
It is truly surprising that Lyle's GS is not more widely available outside of the UK and is very seldom seen here. There is simply nothing like it in Poland only stuff that is also made from sugar but just used as a substitute for honey. I even tried making my own golden syrup, but nothing tastes like the real product as it goes through complicated processes. If more people tried it, it would be on every shelf in every country.
Helen Claire from Italy
This is one of the products you absolutely cannot find in Italy and yet is essential for so many recipes: gingerbread men, flapjacks, biscuits, how can we live without it? I used to lug it over in a suitcase from the UK each time I visited until I came across the British Corner Shop. Now they do all the hard work for me.

Lyles Golden Syrup is a timeless British staple that one must have in their pantry at all times. It is for people of all ages within the family. The sweet, thick, perfect golden colored syrup has multiple uses such as pancakes, breakfast waffles, cakes, puddings, tarts and even biscuits, A generous drizzle of this magical substance is a must and there is nothing quite like Lyles Golden Syrup.
Julie from Switzerland
The one thing we can't live without! Typically British but alternatives just won't do. We've tried maple syrup and agave syrup in our bakes, including the favourite, flapjacks. Drizzle on your pancakes and stir into your porridge or quite simply stick your finger in the tin and lick it! Naughty but oh so nice and we are delighted to discover that The British Corner Shop stock it. Thank you!

This is another British staple to have in a cupboard, use it in Flapjacks , great on a treacle sponge or tart well essential really and a favorite was a spoonful on porridge oatmeal, it melts and get runny and I am grinning thinking about that childhood memory. A really fantastic company who have put out this product that I remember for all my life
Colette from Spain
This syrup is great for baking or for serving with warm pancakes. The flavour is quite distinct and much superior to alternative products available on the market nowadays. In fact, it is an essential ingredient in many of the recipes I remember from my childhood, so it is a great advantage to find it here on the BCS site.
Eileen from Canada
This product is a staple in my kitchen, I liked it as a child and still do,(must admit as a youngster I would stick my finger in the jar if my mum was not looking) It is good on pancakes, waffles and banana fritters.
I have also often used it in my tart and cake baking, pleased to see that I have found another product for my 'favourites' list which is already extensive.
Rosamund from Italy
My favourite childhood dessert is syrup sponge pudding, and now since I have found that BCS stock Lyles Golden Syrup I can enjoy it again. This golden syrup also makes gingerbread lovely and sticky and so good. The tin is so much more convenient than the squeezy bottle as no scrap is wasted.
Clare from Italy
I am fairly new to baking, but have discovered that I can't be without Lyles Golden Syrup now! It keeps really well once opened, not that it lasts very long. I just used it for a pineapple upside down cake and the results were fantastic! Great authentic flavour I remember from when I was little.
sarah c from United States
I honestly think there is nothing quite like golden syrup for baking. Here in the USA they have corn syrup, which is total rubbish made from genetically modified corn, and very unhealthy. So glad you can get this product here instead of corn syrup. I love licking out the spoon at the end of baking. Sometimes I wish I could turn the can inside out to lick, too!!
Brenda from Italy
Lyles Golden Syrup.... What can you say against it? NOTHING, it is the be all and end all of baking and beyond.
All my husbands family go mad for my biscuits and cakes made with this elixir and they ask what is the ingredient that they can't get here in Italy. For years every time I went home I struggled to bring tins upon tins back but thanks to BCS I can travel with a lighter case!
Tonight I had my 3 grandchildren for their evening meal , they love puddings so I quickly made up a batter and made scotch pancakes with ....what else but Lyles Golden Syrup. Delicious.
They ended up eating it straight from the tin. Lovely to "meet" all the staff of BCS and to see who packed my order.
Well Done.
See you soon
Liana from United States
Lyle's syrup is absolutely fantastic. Sweet and syrupy, but with a hint of a savory aspect (not quite "salty", but definitely has a less-than-sugary umami flavor). Delicious on everything from toast and pancakes to using to add an extra sweetness to chilies and soups - even a tasty addition to a cup of tea or coffee!
Nina from Japan
Lyles Golden Syrup is a brilliant product that is a must for any true baker's pantry. The syrup itself is a lovely thick consistency & golden colour that can be used on its own on pancakes (for example) or as part of a cake, my personal favourite being a carrot cake.
The product has a long expiry date so one does not have to worry about using it up quickly.
Ian from Germany
Lyles Golder Syrup can be used for many things in the kitchen and it is the staple of the most wonderful creations that come out of our kitchen.
The thick sticky liquid is contained in a timeless tin that has aged well.
My favourite use for it is when making flapjacks as they require the lovely Syrup.
Bruna from Italy
Christmas is on the way and I'm already thinking of my gingerbread house, ginger cakes, toffees and caramels, and there's no way I can do them without a tin or two of Lyles Golden Syrup. The tin is so beautiful that I hate throwing them away when I finish the contents (very quickly!) but luckily I can always get more from the BCS. Good job too, try asking for it in Italy... at the most you can get maple syrup and nope... not the same thing.
Maria Teresa from Italy
There is no way I'd be without this in my pantry. It's unlike anything I can get over here in Italy. I use it for steam puds and treacle tart when I get nostalgic! So delicious and tasty and the tin is beautiful, which is why I prefer it to the plastic pouring bottle. I can't do without it.
Caterina from France
Lyles Golden Syrup is a product I make sure I always have in my pantry. It has a wonderful toffee taste, not like honey or corn syrup, and you can do so many things with it. It's delicious on pancakes or added to porridge but it's also a typical ingredient for a lot of old English cakes and biscuits, such as Flapjacks. You can find recipes on the Lyles Golden Syrup website.
Sandra from UK - England
There is only one proper Golden syrup and this is it. A thick Golden coloured sweet syrup great on pancakes or warm rice pudding. Also good if used in baking. You can get squirty bottles but I prefer to stick to the tins and spoon it out. They have long use by dates on them so keep a long time once opened.
Jessica from France
There is nothing quite like Golden Syrup made in France, similar things exist but they're not quite right. You can now get this brand in some places but at vast expense so this is worth ordering. And of course it keeps for ages and doesn't go off. It's brilliant for cooking!
