Smash Instant Mashed Potatoes is typically the same as every other brand that I have used. I have found them to be just a bit on the bland and dry side. They are worth using if you add other ingredients, such as butter and herbs. Although they are very convenient, if I just wanted a small batch of plain mash, I'd make homemade.

I love mashed potatoes with a lovely stew or as a side dish to a roast, but peeling potatoes always take so long! I decided to try Smash instant mashed poratoes to see if it could replace the real deal. I must say this product is not for me. It might be convenient but the consistency is way too starchy and the mash tasteless.

5 starsEileen from Canada on

I never liked instant potatoes until I tried this product in England and brought several packages back with me.

They can be used in a variety of ways and are definitely less labour intensive than preparing fresh potatoes.

My favourite way to serve them is with cooked flaked cod or haddock. I make them into fish cakes, cook a couple for dinner and freeze the others for future meals. Worth ordering this product.

Growing up with an abundance of potatoes I had never actually tasted Smash Instant Potatoes until relaltively late in live.

They are extremely simple to make and almost taste like the real thing. The consistency does not feel so good in your mouth which is the biggest giveaway.

It is a good alternative if you can not get any potatoes.
