These are the most family-friendly cakes I know, with the three flavours to cater to every taste. The fondant icing with the soft sponge and delicious buttercream is a great combination. The only problem is that the box finishes far too soon.

Well, I've eaten them a few times, they are not really my cup of tea. The icing is a bit too sweet to my taste and it gets quite sticky to your fingers, maybe because it was during summer but they were alright but not fabulous. The inside is a sponge with a bit of vanilla taste creme. It goes well with tea, that's a fact but not for me.

I had never tried these before as I've never been to the United Kingdom, but now that I have, I am addicted to them! The cakes are delicious, light and moist, and the icing is nice and thick, but also light and not messy. The bit of cream at the top is the perfect touch. I prefer the pink and the yellow ones over the brown ones. The flavor of those is very noticeable, but it is not with the brown ones. I suppose it is supposed to be chocolate. They are still very good and worthwhile to have along with the others. The yellow or lemon has the most noticeable flavor of the three. I got one box in my first order, and have now ordered two more, but wish I'd ordered more than that!

I brought these since I've not eaten them since I left England in 2018. After getting a bit of homesickness I brought a couple of boxes of these alongside some other things and they were delicious. Since my colleagues have not really tried much English food, I gave them some and they too thought they were very delicious too. They are quite rich in flavour however that won't stop you from eating a whole box to yourself they are that great

I love Mr.Kiplings cakes and French Fancies are my favorite. I like the combination of cake to icing and they are a perfect size. The strawberry and chocolate cakes are my favorite. Mr. Kipling is right, they really are exceedingly good cakes. I recommend you trying them!

Mr Kipling French Fancies are delightful little treats. They're perfect for any occasion such as afternoon tea, birthday parties, baby showers or simply just a sweet snack for yourself. Vanilla buttercream atop a light, fluffy sponge, encased in either strawberry, lemon or chocolate icing. I can only consume one or two at the most, however, since they can become a little too sweet and sickly after a while. But, overall, this is a tasty tea time accompaniment.

I have to echo another reviewer's point about them being way too sweet and I'm American, so that's really saying something. I ordered these for my daughter to take to school for her 3rd birthday party and they were a hit with the kids each getting their own tiny cake, but I threw away what was leftover because they were not good. They do not taste of anything but sugar and the sponge seemed too dense to me I'm not a fan of sponge cake though. Overall I would not order these again.

I didn't know fancies and I bought it for curiosity only. Well, Mr Kipling is a guarantee of good taste, nice looking and mouthful recipe. And these fancies are online with this good reputation. In particular, I noted the goodness of the cream on the top. It happens that sometimes the cream in the canned cakes is a little distasteful because of conservation elements. Mr Kipling, on the contrary, put a cream on the top of fancies which tastes of cream and nothing else.

I have only had the vanilla french fancies before and I think they were from Tesco. I was impressed with them and I got Mr Kipling French Fancies to try. I was an idiot for not noticing that there was a variety since I was not expecting that but good to try anyway. I liked the strawberry and vanilla the best. The chocolate was a bit muted in flavor and I dislike lemon so that was not for me either way. The best buy date was really short for these so I froze them. I crumbled the frozen cakes and used it in a trifle and it was very good.

Very attractive cakes. They are a good size for snacking and sharing. The flavors are very mild. I was only able to taste the lemon flavor, supposedly chocolate and strawberry are the other intended flavors. The cake itself is delicious, not too sweet nor is it bland. I do think the icing was poorly chosen to complement the cake.

I am a great fan of french fancies and I haven't eaten one in probably 20 years.....absolutely delicious and lasted 10 minutes which is why I have ordered others !!!

This is one of my favourite cup of tea treats although one is never usually enough. The yellow and pink ones are the best...I'm not a huge fan of the chocolate but never turn one down. They have a short shelf life but do not last 2 mins in our house.

These delightful delicate fondant Fancies, are a lovely treat to have in your cupboard. Once again I can recommend these indivual cakes. They are great as a tasty indulgent treat, or even for serving to guests. Love the different choices of icing in one box. My favourite is the chocolate one.

Mr. Kipling produce incredibly wonderful baked goods, they taste as if they were home made. These French Fancies are not only great to eat but they look very pretty. In the summertime they are lovely to take along on a picnic. They are not as sweet as you would imagine them to be and so it is quite easy to enjoy more than one.

I remember these as a child and have also recently tried the white ones at Christmas and the orange ones at Halloween, but the original ones are the best. I think they are my favourite of all Kipling's cakes. I would buy again and recommend. Nice to know they are still available.

As we are big fans of Mr Kipling at home (and we have tried most of the cakes), we decided to try the French fancies. I was not so impressed with them, I found them too sweet, I think they would be better without the icing topping. That being said, the sponge is delicious as usual, they look very good and will impress your guests, and make for a lovely gift.

Quite disappointing and not as delicious as I remember them. They are moist and extremely pretty little cakes, and I underline the word 'little', as they are also much smaller than I thought. The sponge itself is very light and fluffy, the buttercream blob that tops it doesn't say much, quite bland. The flavoured fondant icing is a bit of a let down, not enough taste to them. Only the lemon yellow cake had a bit of flavour to it and the brown, supposedly chocolate cake, did not taste of chocolate at all. However, three stars because they are very, pretty.

French Fancies come in three different colours and flavours. The inside is the same for all - a delicate sponge coated with vanilla butter fondant.

The brown cakes have a chocolate flavoured icing, the pink ones are supposed to be strawberry flavoured and the yellow fancies have a mild lemony taste.

Very delicious, and just the right size for an after dinner sweet.

As delicious as always, strawberry, lemon and chocolate flavoured fondant icing on a delicious light sponge topped with fluffy butter cream. Mr. Kipling French Fancies are so pretty when served too. There are 8 in the pack, I've always seen three pink,three yellow and two brown. Perfect as part of a Sunday teatime spread.
