This is absolutely the highest quality baking powder I have ever used. As self raising flour is a mystery to continental Europe, it is great to be able to get a product of this quality to ensure any treats I do bake are guaranteed to rise correctly. This product introduced me to the fabulous British Corner Shop! I couldn't get a delivery of Dr OETKER Baking Powder in France and when I contacted the French and German sites they couldn't help. The UK site couldn't deliver to France but pointed me in the direction of British Corner Shop. The product is indispensable for ALL PURPOSE SCONES which are devoured by my husband and French neighbours. What a relief to know I can get it regularly now from British Corner Shop.
In Italy we have baking powder sold in single portion sack useful for about half a kg of flour. But when you bake there is some difference due to temperature and flour . So I prefer a tinned baking powder to take what i need and use. This product is wonderful because it has a greater raising strength than the only two Italian products, no strange flavours and last long. I bought good quantities because my home helper and in-laws asked me.
Baking powder in France is called levure chimique and is sold in small single dose packets that usually contain twice as much as I need. This makes it much more expensive than ordering it from the UK. Its perfect in a tub so that you can use as much as you need without wasting any. Gives a great rise to cakes and would recommend.
I have found a new favorite baking product! For the same price of a container of baking powder in the United States which come in much smaller containers, I can get a good size product from reliable Dr. Oetker! Thank you for always having this in stock! Dr. Oetker makes the best in baking!
I can't get any traditionally English baking products in Italy so being able to buy this and have it shipped to me is simply great! And one tub of Dr Oetker goes a long way and has many uses. I always add half a teaspoon to my batter mix when making crispy fried fish.
I've never seen baking powder in France and it's part of my staples for baking! Great value for money. Though because I don't bake all that often, I sometimes end up tossing out half of it because of the expiry date.... but because it doesn't cost much, I don't mind at all!
Dr Oetker Baking Powder is a top baking product, as most products made by this particular company. With its nice packaging, it's also nice to keep visible in your kitchen.
This is definitely a product that should be included in everyone's kitchen cupboard, and at least I am of the opinion that when making food it's better to stick to the known brands.
This is the best baking powder I have ever used. Unfortunately, they don't sell self raising flour in Italy, or rather, it's not easy to find and when you do find it, it's something 'special' and costs a fortune. I was happy to find this on the BCS site and it is sold at an excellent price too. One tub of this goes a very long way, you only need a few teaspoons of it for a pound of flour.
